Rockets Reserves Shine as Houston Holds Off Raptors

The Houston Rockets ended their six-game losing streak by defeating the Toronto Raptors 94-87 on Sunday, despite losing All-Star center Alperen Sengun to lower back spasms just three minutes into the game. Head coach Ime Udoka expressed hope that Sengun, who played only a short while before leaving, could return for the team's next game on Wednesday.

Houston (33-20) now reclaims the fourth spot in the Western Conference standings after relying on its reserve big men for vital contributions. Jeff Green added 14 points and 5 rebounds, and Jock Landale scored 11 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. Together, they shot 50% from the field and 9 of 10 from the free-throw line to help secure the victory.

Despite having a thin roster, Jalen Green (23rd birthday) and Amen Thompson combined for 19 rebounds to help seal the victory. The Rockets are now getting ready to host the Phoenix Suns and Golden State Warriors for back-to-back games this week at Toyota Center. Jabari Smith Jr. (fractured left hand), Fred VanVleet (ankle sprain), Tari Eason, and Steven Adams were all sidelined.
